Lucía Baumgartner turns classrooms and school buildings into the stage. She developed the concept «The Dancing Classroom», which is a moving awareness event for school children or teenagers and teachers. Regardless of their age Lucía animates them to move. The students learn a movement sequence, which can be developed further with their teacher without great effort. Ideas and wishes of the class are incorporated into the workshop.

«The Dancing Classroom», is devised as a flexible, time independent mobilization in class and takes the situation at hand into consideration. On the one hand the natural urge to move about can be harnessed and on the other side children and youths who are shy in nature are encouraged to move around. Thus promoting attention span and the ability to concentrate supporting a healthier working atmosphere.
Lucía has realized many cultural projects, dance projects or moving lessons with children and youths at school. Since 2012, every year 2000 pupils in the cantons Bern, Aargau and Zürich have benefited of dance workhops with Lucía.

Another example is «#Romeo_Julia». In 2015 Lucía was asked (together with choreographer Teresa Rotemberg)  by the Opernhaus Zürich, to create a production for youths dealing with the classical «Romeo and Juliet» story. Lucía developed «#Romeo_Juliet» with 24 youths (16 and 17 years old) of the Schoolhouse Hirschengraben, Zürich. The result was a very successful multidisciplinary work.

«Lucía Baumgartner understands perfectly how to create body awareness and body coordination, how to discover an individual’s movement language and stimulate every students and every teachers creativity.» Beat Krebs, Schule & Kultur Zürich.
