On 1st of August 2021 between sunrise and sunset, women* and girls* from all parts of Switzerland danced to rousing music the exact same choreography, seemingly spontaneously. They formed as groups in (half)public space and celebrated with a flashmob being a woman and womanhood in all its diversity – 50 years of Women’s Suffrage!

The action took on a life of its own. In order to implement the flashmob, local coordinators were sought throughout Switzerland who organised the flashmobs in their regions. This is how the action multiplied and took on a life of its own.

The artistic action put women’s bodies at the centre of attention and self-confidently appropriates a male-dominated music genre.
